Farmland Health Check-up

In partnership with Ontario’s Certified Crop Advisors (CCAs) and Professional Agrologists (P.Ag), the Farmland Health Check-Up is an opportunity to assess risks to on-farm soil health and water quality.

The Farmland Health Check-Up is available to all producers across the province of Ontario - No sign-up required, no eligibility screening. Just connect with an Agricultural Advisor and complete your free, field-based assessment. Interested to learn more about the decision to expand the program?

Expanding the access of the Farmland Health Check-Up means that any Ontario producer can now benefit from the technical expertise of a CCA or P. Ag, free of charge. The Farmland Health Check-Up is a practical, field-based tool that helps producers assess and improve overall farm health. Using the digital workbook, advisors evaluate three key fields to establish both baseline and target health levels. This assessment supports long-term planning and guides the implementation of best management practices where they matter most.

The assessment evaluates key aspects of farmland health, including:

  • Water Erosion
  • Wind Erosion
  • Tillage Erosion
  • Subsurface Compaction
  • Organic Matter
  • Soil Life
  • Soil Chemistry
  • Phosphorus
  • Nitrogen
  • Pollinator Health
